Welcome to the DESCO Water Ski Website

DESCO Corporation was founded in 1937 to design and build equipment for military and commercial diving. During World War Two DESCO leapfrogged three other manufacturers to become the largest maker of diving equipment in the world. After the war a downturn in demand for diving gear prompted the company to expand into other markets. Since many of DESCO's commercial diving equipment dealers had access to the recreational boating and diving markets water sporting goods were a natural product line to enter.

The post WW II boom in recreational products began to wane in the later part of the 50's. The surplus diving equipment supply was significantly reduced so DESCO refocused on its core business and exited the sporting goods market by 1960.

Today there is still a market quality wood water skis. This type of ski is prized by performing water skiing teams. Though no design or engineering documentation exists from the original production runs we have been able to reverse engineer our skis from originals we have acquired. Also using sales and marketing literature from our archives we can now offer a ski of the same style with better quality utilizing modern adhesives and coatings. The new skis will have the same look, feel, and performance while being more durable.

There is a new generation of people working at DESCO but we still want to offer the same value and quality that came with every water ski sold 60 years ago.
